Purushottam High School celebrated the 80th Independence Day of India on 15th August 2026 with great enthusiasm, patriotic spirit and pride. The celebration brought together the school management, teachers, students, parents and distinguished guests to commemorate the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and to reaffirm our commitment towards building a responsible and progressive India.

The school was honoured by the presence of Chief Guest Mrs. Lalitha Pravin Garud alumnus of the 1986 batch and Guest of Honour Mrs. Ansari Nazma Khatoon whose presence added grace and significance to the occasion.

The programme commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, followed by Vande Mataram, the National Anthem and the Rajya Geet. The patriotic spirit continued with a vibrant Kavayat Sanchalan and Patriotic Song, creating an atmosphere of national pride and unity.

A pledge in Hindi was administered to reinforce the values of patriotism, responsibility and citizenship. The gathering also paid tribute to the Founder Members of Purushottam High School, remembering their vision and contribution to the growth of the institution.

The formal programme in the hall began with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Vandana Kamble, followed by a speech by the Pre-Primary Section. A special Pledge for a Drug-Free India was conducted to create awareness among students about the importance of making healthy and responsible choices. The Primary Section presented an energetic Patriotic Dance, adding colour and enthusiasm to the celebration.

The students and the school community also reaffirmed their commitment towards academic integrity through a Pledge for a Copy-Free Examination, followed by a meaningful speech in Marathi by the Secondary Section. Mr. Rajesh Kotian addressed the gathering and shared his thoughts on the significance of Independence Day and the responsibilities of the younger generation.

Address by the Chief Guest

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Lalitha Pravin Garud, addressed the students and shared inspiring thoughts on the significance of Independence Day, the value of education and the responsibilities of young citizens. She encouraged the students to work hard, remain disciplined, uphold good values and contribute positively to society and the nation.

Her words served as an inspiration to the students and reminded them that true independence comes with responsibility, integrity and the determination to make a difference.

The presence of Guest of Honour Mrs. Ansari Nazma Khatoon further added warmth and dignity to the celebration.

A special highlight of the programme was the much-awaited General Proficiency Prize and Best Class Activity – “Welcome Back to School” awards.

Purushottam High School proudly felicitated its outstanding SSC Toppers and Subject-wise Toppers for their exceptional academic performance, dedication and hard work.

In addition, a cash prize of ₹3,000 each for five Merit Students was sponsored by the Management in loving memory of the founders, Lion K. B. Kotian and Lion Lady Jayashree Kotian.

Cash Prize of Rs.1000 for Subject-wise Toppers was sponsored by the subject teachers to recognise excellence in individual subjects.

A special prize was awarded for securing 97 marks in English and 98 marks in Social Science along with the contribution from the respective Subject Teachers.

The felicitation was a proud and inspiring moment for the students, their parents and the entire school community. The awards served not merely as a recognition of marks, but as a celebration of hard work, perseverance, determination and the pursuit of excellence.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the AHM Mrs. Bharti Gadge, followed by the School Anthem.

The Independence Day celebration was a memorable blend of patriotism, gratitude, achievement and inspiration, leaving everyone with a renewed sense of pride in the nation and in the accomplishments of the students of Purushottam High School.

On *12th August 2026, Purushottam High School was privileged to welcome the esteemed members of the **Lions Club of Four Bungalows* to our school. As a thoughtful gesture towards promoting learning among our students, the Club generously donated *books for the students of Standards VI, VII, VIII and IX*.

The visit and contribution were greatly appreciated by the school and students. The donated books will provide our learners with opportunities to enhance their writing skills and explore new ideas beyond the classroom.

We sincerely thank the *Lions Club of Four Bungalows* for their generosity, encouragement and continued support towards our students and their educational journey.

“Art is the key to personality development.”

A Painting Competition was organised at Purushottam High School on 8th August 2026 with the aim of providing students with an opportunity to showcase their creativity, imagination, and artistic talent.

The programme was conducted enthusiastically under the guidance of the school management and staff, including School Director Mrs. Prema Kotian, Academic Director Dr. Lata Sagar, Principal Mrs. Vandana Kamble, and AHM Mrs. Bharti Gadge.

Students from different classes participated enthusiastically in the competition and created attractive and imaginative paintings. They displayed their artistic skills and expressed their ideas to the best of their abilities. Photographs of the students and their beautiful paintings were also taken during the competition.

The competition helped students develop their artistic skills, observation, creative thinking, imagination, and self-confidence. The dignitaries present appreciated the beautiful and creative works of the students and encouraged them to continue exploring their artistic talents.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all the participating students, teachers, organisers, and everyone who contributed to the successful conduct of the competition.

The Anti-Drug Awareness Drawing Competition, organised by the Narcotics Department, was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encouraging them to adopt a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The Prize Distribution Ceremony was held at Purushottam High School, Bandra (East) to honour the winners and appreciate the enthusiastic participation of the students.

The dignitaries were warmly welcomed in the gracious presence of Director Ms. Prema Kotian and Principal Ms. Vandana Kamble.
Addressing the gathering, the officers spoke about the serious consequences of drug abuse on individuals, families, and society. They urged the students to make informed and responsible choices, remain focused on their goals, and lead healthy, disciplined lives.

Their inspiring and thought-provoking message motivated the students to stay away from drugs and become responsible citizens. The officers also assured the school of their continued support by conducting more awareness programmes and interactive sessions in the future to educate and empower students towards a safe, healthy, and drug-free life.

The winners of the drawing competition were felicitated with certificates and prizes in recognition of their creativity and meaningful portrayal of the anti-drug message.

Purushottam High School celebrated International Yoga Day on 21st June 2026 with great enthusiasm, energy, and wholehearted participation from students and staff members. The programme was organized to create awareness about the significance of yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, inner peace, and a healthy lifestyle.

The celebration was graced by the esteemed presence of Academic Director Dr. Lata Sagar and Pre-Primary Head Ms. Mukta Kotian, whose gracious presence added dignity and significance to the occasion.

We would also like to acknowledge the constant support and motivation of our Director, Mrs. Prema Kotian, her encouragement and vision continue to inspire students and staff members and played an important role in the successful conduct of the programme.

The programme was effectively hosted by Ms. Sangeeta Yadav, who highlighted the importance of yoga and its role in nurturing a healthy mind and body. As rightly said, “Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.” Students enthusiastically participated in warm-up exercises, yoga asanas, Surya Namaskar, pranayama, and relaxation techniques. Their dedication, discipline, and active involvement created an atmosphere of positivity, mindfulness, and unity.

We express our heartfelt gratitude to Principal Ms. Vandana Kamble, AHM Ms. Bharti Gadge and Principal Primary Section Ms Anupama Lobo for their constant support, guidance, and encouragement in organising and making the programme a grand success.

A special word of appreciation goes to our Physical Training Teachers, Mr. Himesh Rajbhar and Ms. Kshitija Pawar, for their excellent demonstration of yoga asanas and pranayama techniques. Their expertise and guidance enabled students to perform the practices correctly and confidently. We also extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Pratap for capturing the memorable moments of the event through photographs and videos.

We gratefully acknowledge the valuable support and enthusiastic participation of Ms. Neelam Singh and Ms. Pradnya Gamare, whose cooperation contributed to the smooth conduct of the programme. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our support staff, Mr. Raju and Mr. Sada, for their assistance and cooperation throughout the event.

The programme concluded with an inspiring message encouraging everyone to incorporate yoga into their daily routine and experience its transformative benefits. As the theme of the day resonated throughout the programme, “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the event served as a reminder that a healthy body, a calm mind, and a positive spirit are the foundations of a successful life.

The celebration ended on a positive note, motivating all present to work towards a healthier, happier, and more balanced future through the regular practice of yoga.

Purushottam High School enthusiastically welcomed the new academic year 2026–27 with a special reopening activity based on the *”Super Teacher – Superhero Theme.”* Teachers arrived dressed in creative superhero attire, each showcasing a unique superpower such as kindness, creativity, patience, leadership, or knowledge. The activity created a vibrant and positive atmosphere, highlighting the extraordinary role teachers play in shaping young minds. Three teachers were awarded prizes for their outstanding costumes and presentations.

The day also included a General Staff Meeting, where important plans, goals, and expectations for the new academic year were discussed. The meeting provided an opportunity for all staff members to align their efforts towards achieving excellence in education and student development.

Following the meeting, teachers participated in a two-hour training session focused on *Child Pedagogy*. The session emphasized child-centered teaching approaches, understanding learners’ needs, and creating engaging classroom experiences that support holistic development.

The day was filled with enthusiasm, learning, and collaboration, setting a positive and inspiring tone for the academic year ahead.

Purushottam High School conducted a two-day Social Emotional Learning (SEL) training program for teachers on 11th and 12th June 2026. The sessions focused on building a Circle of Trust through the practice of Touchstones—guidelines that help create safe, respectful, and trusting spaces for meaningful interactions.

On the second day training focused on The Gift of Listening, where they explored the importance of listening with empathy, presence, and openness. The training emphasized setting aside judgments and listening for strengths, possibilities, and potential in others.

The program was enriching and reflective, encouraging teachers to strengthen their connections with students, colleagues, and families through trust, compassion, and effective communication.

The school appreciates the active participation of all teachers and remains committed to the holistic development of its students.

Our school organised a heartfelt Retirement Felicitation Programme to honour two distinguished educators, Mr. Ashok Korade and Mrs. Anita Mathew, for their years of dedicated service to the institution.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome and a prayer, followed by inspiring words that celebrated their remarkable contributions to education and the school community.
The retirees were felicitated by the management and dignitaries in recognition of their outstanding service. Colleagues shared touching memories, highlighting Mr. Korade’s 30 years of sincere service and Mrs. Mathew’s 41 years of visionary leadership and commitment to nurturing young minds. Both retirees addressed the gathering, expressing their gratitude and sharing their experiences. The programme concluded with speeches by the Principal and Directors, a heartfelt Vote of Thanks, and best wishes for a happy, healthy, and fulfilling retired life.

Purushottam High School proudly celebrated its Founder’s Day on 1st April 2026, commemorating the birth anniversary of our revered founder, Late Lion Principal K. B. Kotian. The occasion was marked with great enthusiasm, gratitude, and deep respect for his visionary leadership and invaluable contribution to education.

The function was graced by distinguished guests, including Mr. Uttam Khobragade (IAS, Retd.) and Mr. Zubair Siddiqui, an esteemed ex-student of the school. We were also honoured by the presence of members from the Rotary Club of Brave Hearts Mumbai—Ms. Zeenat Hasta (President), Mr. Khuzem Sakarwala, and Mrs. Nazeen Sakarwala. Representatives from iValue, Mr. Krishnaraj Sharma and Mr. Lalit, also added great prestige to the event. The celebration was further enriched by the presence of talented singers, Mr. Sameer Vijayakumar and Ms. Isha Singh.

A special note of gratitude was extended to the iValue team for their exemplary support through their CSR initiative, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Brave Hearts Mumbai. Their contribution towards replacing the ageing roof has significantly improved the school’s safety and infrastructure, creating a better learning environment for our students.

The program commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the spread of knowledge, followed by a soulful prayer song. A special segment showcasing the inspiring life journey and achievements of Late Lion Principal K. B. Kotian deeply moved the audience and reminded everyone of his enduring legacy.

As a mark of respect and gratitude, a memento in loving memory of our founder was presented to Mr. Uttam Khobragade as a token of honour and appreciation. The event also featured a delightful musical performance by the singers, which added joy and vibrancy to the celebration.

The Founder’s Day celebration was indeed a memorable occasion, filled with pride, inspiration, and a renewed commitment to uphold the values and vision of our beloved founder.

International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and warmth at Purushottam High School on 7th March, 2026. What made the celebration truly special was that it was thoughtfully organized by the men of the school for all the wonderful women staff members.

The celebration began with a lively and energetic dance performance by the male staff, which brought smiles and laughter to everyone present. Their effort and enthusiasm created a joyful atmosphere and set the tone for the event.

This was followed by a series of fun-filled games organized especially for the women teachers and staff. The games encouraged participation, laughter, and bonding among everyone, making the celebration even more enjoyable.

To conclude the event, a small token of love and appreciation was presented to all the beautiful women of the school as a gesture of gratitude for their dedication, strength, and contribution to the school community.

Our school celebrated Shivaji Jayanti with great pride and enthusiasm. Students and teachers came together to honour the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj through powerful powadas and inspiring songs that highlighted his bravery, leadership, and values.

The performances beautifully conveyed messages of patriotism, courage, discipline, and respect for our rich cultural heritage. The celebration created an atmosphere of unity and pride, leaving students motivated to follow the ideals of the great Maratha warrior in their daily lives.

On 14th February, 2026, Purushottam High School successfully conducted a Project Based Learning (PBL) programme along with a Food Mela in the Ground Floor Hall of the school. The programme was organised with the objective of promoting experiential learning, creativity, collaboration, and real-life application of knowledge among students.

The theme of the PBL was “Save Our Environment Through Waste Management.” Students from different grades actively participated by preparing innovative and informative projects based on waste segregation, recycling, composting, reduction of plastic usage, and sustainable living practices. The projects reflected thorough research, critical thinking, and a strong sense of environmental responsibility.

The PBL exhibition provided students an opportunity to explain their concepts confidently, improve communication skills, and engage in peer learning. Teachers guided and supported students throughout the planning and execution of the projects, ensuring meaningful learning outcomes.

Along with the PBL exhibition, a Food Mela by parents was organised which added enthusiasm and joy to the event. Parents and students showcased teamwork and entrepreneurial skills through well-managed food stalls, while also maintaining hygiene and discipline. The Food Mela created a lively atmosphere and encouraged social interaction among students, teachers, and parents.

Overall, the Project Based Learning programme held on 14th February, 2026 was a grand success. It helped students develop life skills, environmental awareness, and confidence while making learning engaging and enjoyable. The programme truly reflected the school’s commitment to holistic education.
